SXC already announced it a few months ago: Armin van Buuren is going to be one of the first Dutch astronauts invited on a flight into space on their Lynx spacecrafts. On Friday, August 26th, he revealed the Lynx at the Summer Fair in Noordwijk.
The Lynx Static Prototype 1 (Lynx SP-1) is a life-size replica of the actual spacecraft that is currently being tested elaborately in the Californian Mojave Desert. The rollout of the rocket plane will take place in the first quarter of 2012. Armin: “The SP-1 is an incredible impressive thing. Just thinking about floating around in one of those, hovering about 100 km above the Earth, gives me goose bumps. Even if I have to wait another three years. I think it is great that SXC and the Summer Fair chose to introduce the spacecraft to the world for the first time, in the Netherlands. I am feeling extremely proud I was the one to reveal it to the world.”
