Renvo wins SEAT’s Next DJ contest

Renvo wins SEAT’s Next DJ contest

After months of touring, promotional activities and producing, the winner of the SEAT’s Next DJ contest has finally been revealed. The 22-year old Joey Janssen, better known as Renvo, was in the finals with 20-year old talent DiVasco. Eventually, Renvo was chosen as the big winner of the talent hunt. Not only did he receive the most votes, he also managed to impress the jury with his natural appearance behind the decks and contagious sound.

Renvo won the first prize, playing at the Electronic Family festival in the Amsterdamse Bos on July 30th, and built up a steady fan base in the past few months. 7 years ago, the young talent from Haarlem started DJ’ing in the trance genre. In the meantime, he played at the A State of Trance 500 event in Den Bosch and rocked Space, Ibiza as one of the warm-up DJ’s of Armin van Buuren. This Saturday, Electronic Family will be added to his list, where he’ll be playing alongside the likes of Armin van Buuren, Gareth Emery and Gabriel & Dresden.

One of the challenges of SEAT’s Next DJ contest was to produce a collaboration. Renvo’s dream to team-up with W&W came true, with single ‘Breakout’ as the result. The single was released on Armada Music in early July and did well on both YouTube and iTunes. Now that Renvo is named the official winner, the Managing Director of Armada Music, Maykel Piron, likes to offer the talent a contract. Maykel Piron:”I’d like to congratulate Renvo on winning this challenge, we’re very happy to have a talent like Joey with us. He’s got quite some experience producing and we really like his style and sound. Both guys have done an amazing job and I’m sure we will be hearing from both of them, but Renvo is the deserved winner. We’re very much looking forward to working with him.”
